About Dead Simple QR
A one-person QR code company built on a simple belief: once you print a QR code, it's yours. Not ours to hold, not ours to revoke, not ours to ransom.
The frustration
QR codes shouldn't come with strings attached
Most QR code tools work the same way: create a code, print it on something, and hope you never need to cancel your subscription. Because if you do, your codes go dark. The menu you printed. The flyer you handed out. The sticker on your product. All dead.
6 of 10 major QR code generators deactivate your codes when you stop paying. They use your printed materials as leverage. Keep subscribing, or your codes stop working.
That seemed wrong. So I built something different.
The founder
Built by one person, on purpose
I'm Jonathan. I'm a software engineer who got frustrated watching small businesses get locked into QR code subscriptions they didn't need, for codes that would stop working the moment they cancelled.
Dead Simple QR is a one-person company. I design it, build it, and run it. That's intentional. It means every decision is made by someone who uses the product and cares about keeping it simple. No feature committees, no growth hacks, no dark patterns.
The name is the mission statement. QR codes should be dead simple. Create one, customize it, print it, track it. If you ever need to change where it points, do it in two clicks. And if you ever leave, your codes keep working.
How we think
Principles, not slogans
Codes never die. Your QR codes keep redirecting forever, even after cancellation. This isn't a policy that can be changed. It's how the infrastructure works.
Monthly means monthly. No annual-billing tricks disguised as monthly pricing. The price you see is the price you pay, and you can cancel anytime without losing your codes.
Simple over feature-rich. Every QR code tool eventually becomes a bloated dashboard with features nobody asked for. Dead Simple QR does a few things well: dynamic codes, scan analytics, and beautiful design.
Privacy by default. We hash IP addresses instead of storing them raw. We don't collect personal information from people who scan your codes. Analytics should tell you what's happening without identifying individuals.
Frequently asked
Common questions
Who runs Dead Simple QR?
Dead Simple QR is built and run by Jonathan Ellenbogen. It's a one-person company focused on making QR codes that are simple to create, beautiful to look at, and permanent by design.
Why should I trust a small company with my QR codes?
Your QR codes don't depend on the company to work. The redirect infrastructure is designed so codes keep working regardless of account status. Even if you cancel, downgrade, or delete your account entirely, your codes continue redirecting. That's architecture, not a policy. It doesn't require trust in our size.
How long has Dead Simple QR been around?
Dead Simple QR launched in 2026. It's built on modern infrastructure with a focus on reliability and simplicity over feature sprawl.
Do you plan to add more features?
Yes, but carefully. Every feature has to earn its place. The goal is to stay simple and do a few things well (dynamic QR codes, scan analytics, and permanent redirects) rather than becoming another bloated dashboard.
